Today we celebrate the late Luther Vandross’ birthday. The Grammy Award winning singer, songwriter and producer passed away in 2005 after giving the world over two decades of timeless music.
During Luther’s rise to stardom one of his most oft-compared peers was Freddie Jackson. The two enjoyed a friendly rivalry in the 1980s as well as a close friendship. In this exclusive interview, TheUrbanDaily asked Freddie to share his memories of “competing” with Luther and to share, among other things, why the two never recorded together.
