2 Chainz Wasn't Wearing Brass Knuckles When Arrested
2 Chainz On Airport Arrest: “They Tried To Assassinate My Swag”
Like many other of you southern rap fans, chests tightened upon word that the rapper formally known as Tity Boi, now referred to as 2 Chainz, was arrested in NYC for allegedly wearing brass knuckles at the airport.
2 Chainz: “My Mom Raised A Helluva Dude” [EXCLUSIVE]
However, it seems that there may be a misunderstanding between 2 Chainz and the NYPD. TMZ, who first broke the story, says what the authorities thought was a weapon was merely a piece of jewelry.
The site reports:
Rapper 2 Chainz wasn’t packing brass knuckles when he was arrested today in New York … it was just a harmless 4-finger ring — this according to sources close to the hip hop star.
The ring says “DOPE” in big letters — and sources tell TMZ, 2 Chainz rocked it no problem at an Atlanta club called the Velvet Room on Sunday.
According to sources close to the rapper, Chainz then flew to NYC without incident — with the ring in his luggage — but when he tried to leave the city today, TSA at LaGuardia Airport mistook the jewelry for a dangerous weapon.
UPDATE:
2 Chainz has been released and spoke to MTV.com about the arrest:
“They tried to assassinate my character, they tried to assassinate my swag,” 2 Chainz told MTV News in an exclusive telephone interview. “It was just a negative dilemma earlier where someone misconstrued a piece of jewelry for a weapon and stuff.” READ THE FULL STORY HERE.
