Souljah Boy Opens Up About Crying At BET Awards

There was an abundance of ratchetness at the BET Awards. One moment that looked ratchet, but truly wasn’t was when Soulja Boy was caught on camera crying during Whitney Houston‘s tribute.

Soulja Boy explained that the reason he was crying had more to do with the fact he was watching a mother perform a tribute to her late daughter than anything else. Soulja Boy spoke to XXL about his emotional outburst, “Yeah man. When I was standing there and they started to do the tribute, I started to think about Whitney Houston. When her mother came onstage, I thought about how a mother was singing about her daughter that was no longer here. A daughter that had died.”

The Whitney Houston tribute began to stir up memories of his brother who died recently. “That’s really tough. Then I started thinking about my younger brother that recently passed. I got his name tatted on my arm. [His passing] feels like it happened yesterday. So those things are hard to watch.”

Soulja Boy, we will refrain from the crying slander because of the trails you’ve gone through. However, you will not be let off the hook for those dirty ass nails. No excuses. You were going to an awards show. Act accordingly.
