Tyler, The Creator On Being Called A Homophobe
Odd Future, and in particular, Tyler, The Creator have been subjected to criticism over their use of certain lyrics — including gay slurs. Some have branded Tyler and co. as homophobes, while others have contested that their langage – while inflammatory – doesn’t necessarily confirm their point-of-view about gay people.
After Frank Ocean revealed that that his first love was a man this week via Tumblr, it was suggested by many that there’s a certain bit of irony there considering Odd Future’s music. However, Tyler was one of the first to speak out in support of Frank’s decision, and yesterday via Formspring, reiterated that he’s not homophobic.

Frank is the fu*king man, and a hero and inspiration to everyone. His sexuality has nothing to do with how amazing his music and talents are. Tyler, you’re also amazing for not caring about that stupid bullshit. You’re honestly a good dude.

hahaha yeah, ive know for a while, he told me a long time ago. it was just funny cause i was getting bashed as a homophobe or whatever and i kept saying dude how am i one? i have gay friends like what the fuck leave me alone haha. yeah thats my n*gga tho, sh*t is hard for him but he did that.
