Chi-Ali Released From Prison
Chi-Ali (above, middle) is home. The rapper, who was part of the Native Tongues collective that included A Tribe Called Quest, Black Sheep, De La Soul and others, made a little noise in the early 90s with songs like Roadrunner and Funky Lemonade before fading from the limelight.
In 2000, Chi-Ali (ne Chi-Ali Griffith) shot and killed Sean Raymond the brother of his then-girlfriend in a dispute. Instead of turning himself in to the police, Griffith went on the lam making an infamous appearance on the primetime criminal justice show America’s Most Wanted. He was arrested shortly after his picture was shown on the telecast.
