“Soul Man” Renewed For Second Season
Cedric The Entertainer’s call for help in saving his TV Land series, Soul Man, has worked out. The actor has confirmed via the Twitter that network execs has been ordered for a second season.
Still, fans should do better if you want Soul Man to enjoy a third season run (via Deadline):
The Soul Man, a spinoff from TV Land’s flagship comedy Hot In Cleveland, premiered in June as the network’s second highest rated series debut behind Hot In Cleveland among Adults 25-54 (1.0 rating) and Women 25-54. In total viewers, the series starring Cedric the Entertainer and Niecy Nash debuted to 1.9 million, behind Cleveland (4.8 million) and Happily Divorced (2.4 million). By the end of its 12-episode freshman run, The Soul Man had shed half of its premiere audience, with the first season finale drawing 992,000 total viewers.
