Akon: “The Construction Company Is Trying To Extort Me!”
Multi-platinum recording artist Akon is not about fork over $51,000 for a construction bill he defaulted on. The Urban Daily reported a few weeks ago that Akon was being sued for the five figure sum by a construction company, Southern Electric. The company alleges they did work on the “I Wanna Love You” singer’s Georgia mansion and they haven’t been paid after numerous attempts to get in contact with Akon or his people.
Akon says he’s not going to pay because the company butchered his home. He also claims the owner of Southern Electric, Jay Poorak, tried to extort him for the 51k. Due to that, Akon has filed a countersuit against Poorak and his company citing they began working on the star’s home without ironing out the terms of the contract. Akon says Southern Electric did electrical, framing, and cornice work without any permission from Akon and everything was done poorly. He is suing for money he says he overpaid Southern Electric and for slander.
