Sometimes the way a thug proposes might not be the most conventional, but it seems to be always welcomed. In these clips below we see the different ways supposed thugs propose to their girls — and the awkward moments that came after.

She Wants the 4-1-1

Chrissy was hunting down a proposal from Jim Jones the entire time she was on “Love and Hip Hop.” She even proposed to him, but he clearly wasn’t feeling it, so while she was on vacation in Miami he surprised her with a ring.

The Proposal: So elusive and so secretive, he wasn’t getting to the point fast enough for Chrissy, so he pulled out the ring box and said, “Do you wanna marry me?”

Awkward Moment: She was sitting and he was standing and it was super casual, but all in all, it was decent.

Benzino’s Quick Proposal

The funniest thing in this whole proposal was that he proposed and said he loved her — because so much can happen in eight episodes — and as soon as Karlie Redd said she doubts his love — SNAP! — back goes the ring.

The Almost Proposal: “I care about you and I love you, and I know I can be jealous… There’s nothing I wouldn’t do for you…”

Awkward Moment: Money-grubber Karlie Redd was PISSED after he showed her the ring and didn’t technically propose. I’m so glad Benzino has tears tatted on his face so we don’t have to see him cry thug tears.

Marry Me? Ya Fenayeez me?

There comes a time in a man’s life when he’s been dogging out his girl of 10 years that he finally decides he might as well put a ring on it. And that’s exactly what happened when Scrappy proposed to his longtime girlfriend and mother of his child on the reunion of season one “Love and Hip Hop: Atlanta.”

The Propsal: “I wanna be a man. I wanna have my family back. Ya feel what I’m sayin? If it don’t work it’s cool. Will you marry a n-gga?” How. Ro. Man. Tic.

Awkward moment: His former/current/whoknowsatthispoint jumpoff, Shay, was also at the reunion and had to watch it all go down from behind the stage.

In the second season of the show, Erica not only called off the engagement, but she pawned the ring. Scrappy wants her back so we will have to see how it all turns out on tonight’s season finale.

I Loves You, and I Wants to Marry You

Okay, DJ Khaled‘s marriage proposal went on for a smooth minute and 39 seconds on MTV. He said more words in this proposal than he ever has on any of his tracks.

The Proposal: “I’ma be honest with you. I wanna marry you. I’m here today at MTV. Nicki Minaj will you marry me? We got the same symptoms;we both suffer from success…” Stop right there. Fellas take note — no respectable woman wants to hear the word symptoms in her marriage proposal. You sound like you just left the clinic.

Awkward Moment: Ummm, I don’t know if Khaled knows this, but he and Nicki aren’t dating. She has a whole entire boyfriend she has been with since, oh, FOREVER. And clearly he has no manners because he mentioned how he wanted to let their fans know before their families. SMH. Despite ALL THAT, if Nicki was so busy, couldn’t they just use FaceTime? We don’t know if Nicki ever accepted his proposal.

No More Games

The Proposal: This was the most traditional proposal of the bunch. Game got down on one knee and simply asked her to marry him in a school room with all of their children.

Awkward Moment: Two years and one TV show later they still ain’t married yet! And in the first season of the show we saw her give him back his ring to put their wedding on pause.

We’ll see what happens in the second season of the show!

Steebie, will ju murry mi?

It was one of the sweetest of the proposals (maybe because it came from a woman), and certainly one of the most unconventional.

The Proposal: “I’m asking you to marry me… And we’re gonna be business partners and lovers forever, and I think we should just go ahead and do it.”

Awkward Moment: “It’s about this silent commitment,” Stevie responded. Boy, what? See that’s when problems arise and that’s why Mimi stays lurking in the shadows pretending she’s not pissed at everything he does. Don’t let this be you, Joseline.
