Since the release of TLC’s biopic this past week. I’m sure every artist who has had a bit of relevancy in their time will jump on board of the, we-want-to-tell-our-story-too, bandwagon.
And we all know in the world of media and entertainment, when something is a hit, trends are started. So don’t be surprised if in 2014 you see an influx of biopics being released. So to save some time here are some artists we don’t want releasing biopics.
Mobb Deep
One of hip-hop’s more legendary groups from the ’90s would have made a great biopic. Seeing almost four decades of hip-hop, the group has its share of stories but around the time Prodigy went to jail things, became sour with group member Havoc. And it seemed the two starting distancing themselves when Havoc aired out his personal issues with Prodigy on Twitter. Both Havoc and Prodigy both claim they are now on good terms but some may think it’s for publicity. The two may have tarnished they legacy with the spat. If they were to do a biopic they probably would be on the same page so who knows if the movie would be accurate, since they both have their own view on things.

Sir Mix-A-Lot
Arguably the greatest one-hit-wonder of the ’90s. Mix-A-Lot stretched his 15 minutes of fame all the way into the 2000s with his single. VH1 even ranked ‘Baby Got Back’ number 17 on their 100 Greatest Songs of Hip-Hop. Do we really want a biopic on a one-hit-wonder?

Soulja Boy
Soulja Boy once ruled the air waves with his catchy songs and hooks. Then somewhere down the line he carer took a steep nose dive. Once the butt end of jokes that he ruined hip-hop, the general consensus on Soulja Boy today is he’s the rapper that gained fame overnight without any talent during the inception of YouTube.

Benzino
The journey of Benzino is more than laughable. Starting his rap career in the ’80s with the Mighty RSO. The rap crew didn’t make it big so Zino ventured out on his own finally in the early parts of the 2000s. Benzino released a handful of albums no one cared for. To gain acceptance amongst his rap peers, Benzino muscled his way into
the Source. And by Muscle his way into the Source, I mean the rapper forced the staff to listen to his awful music and demanded good reviews. Do we need a biopic on the guy that ruined the hip-hop bible of magazines probably not.

G. Dep
Dep had all the ingredients at the time to be a great rapper during the throwback jersey era. Criminal past, decent rap skills and nothing was hotter than being from Harlem at the time. Fast forward one album released he fell off the face of the earth, he turned himself in for a crime he committed almost 20 years later. It’s safe to say he ruined a chance at a good career.

Lil Mama
Female emcees don’t get the same amount of shine as their counterparts. That’s because when they do get the shine we get artists like ‘Lil Mama. We could consider her the female version of Soulja Boy. She dropped her first album and never picked up a mic ever again. The rapper was qualified enough to host and judge dance shows on MTV and played Left Eye in the
TLC biopic. Which might be the only time ‘Lil Mama would be apart of any biopic with her rapping.

Da Band
Puffy, Diddy, P. Diddy or whatever name he was using at the time decided to ride the wave of MTV’s making band craze but wanted to create a hip-hop group from the show. He toured the U.S. only to find 5 of the worst artists (ok maybe 4; Ness was ok) he could put together. Da Band contributed and inspired one of the greatest skits created by Dave Chapelle.
Dylan, Dylan, Dylan, Dylan and Dylan.

Vanilla Ice
When you think Vanilla Ice, you think of the guy who set White rappers back a few years. If Eminem didn’t put in the work that he did, we might not have seen another White rapper in the history of hip-hop. We’re sure Vanilla Ice has a list of stories he could share with the world but are we interested? Probably not. We’ll wait for Eminem’s biopic or did we get that already with ’8 Mile?’

Chingy
Chingy was considered the second coming of Nelly and we’re not sure if that was good thing or not. Nonetheless, Chingy came and went because well, his music wasn’t that good. He feuded with Nelly and then his label boss Ludacris. We didn’t care when he was “popular,” a biopic wouldn’t allow us to care now.

Consequence
If Consequence got his own biopic, it would be seen as a haters manual on how bitter he is about his music career. Any circle Cons has been apart of, he’s found a way to spin it into other artists not seeing his talent or giving him credit for his work. He did it to A Tribe Called Quest and later on, Kanye. I’m sure he couldn’t go five minutes into the pic without letting everyone know he helped write Beyonce’s ‘
Party.’
