Timbaland Signs On For Lee Daniels Hip-Hop Drama
Timbaland Mosley got back on his music grind in 2013 producing heaters for Jay Z and Justin Timberlake, but now the Virginia-born super producer is adding more TV credits to his already extensive resume.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Fox has signed the Grammy-winning producer to be a songwriter and producer for Lee Daniels’ upcoming hip-hop drama, “Empire.” The show stars Terrence Howard and Taraji P. Henson and is described as a family drama set in the world of a hip-hop. Is this “Hustle and Flow” meets “Platinum”? Guess we’ll have to see.
Lee Daniels most recent success was directing Oprah Winfrey and Forest Whitaker in the critically acclaimed historical drama, “Lee Daniels’ The Butler.” Timbaland produced and/or co-produced the lion’s share of Jay Z’s 2013 platinum album, “Magna Carta Holy Grail” and Justin Timberlake’s “The 20/20 Experience.”
