After Friday’s news of Lil Wayne sending a subliminal shot at Young Thug, it appears the Atlanta rapper has a quick response to Wayne. Young Thug uploaded a video to Instagram stating the following:
“I understand that Lil Wayne is frustrated about his career, and I feel him on that. But this is my idol. I wouldn’t ever in my life swap words with him or beef with him about nothing. This is a person that I look up to.”
He captured the video by writing, “I respect @liltunechi for being someone so big in my life, no matter what he say… #c6otw.”
The exchange began with Cash Money Records affiliate Young Thug naming his upcoming album Tha Carter 6. The news of Young Thug’s decision broke as Lil Wayne was in the middle of a multimillion dollar lawsuit with Cash Money Records co-founder Bryan “Birdman” Williams. Wayne alleges unscrupulous business practices on Williams’ end are delaying his planned release of Tha Carter V.
Coincidentally this isn’t the first case of a Cash Money upstart making an unauthorized sequel to a disgruntled label mate’s album. In 2002, Lil Wayne named his album 500 Degreez in reference to Juvenile’s 1998 album, 400 Degreez.
