Nas Speaks On Charleston Shooting: “Racism Is Rotting America”
Like many other unspeakable tragedies, we look at icons for some truth to disperse the dark cloud. Nas did some of that following the Charleston tragedy. VIBE caught up with Nas at the premiere of the hip-hop fashion film Fresh Dressed and asked him about his thoughts.
“We have to live our life in this zoo,” Nas said, after some drivel about mental illness. “How do heal the people that are mentally ill today? How do make them more respectful of each other no matter what race they are? Racism is rotting America. It’s been rotting America since its inception.”
