Bobby Shmurda Hires A Third Lawyer After Getting His Bail Denied

Soon, it will be a year since Bobby Shmurda got sent to Rikers Island for a variety of gang-related charges. Like the preceding headlines, this one doesn’t bring much good news for the embattled rapper.

Shmurda’s bail package got denied once again. Special Narcotics Prosecutor Nigel Farinha noted that Shmurda has put together at least four bail package during his time at Rikers.

In addition to the setback, Shmurda’s team has hired Brafman & Associates’s Alex Spiro, the third lawyer to work on the case. In today’s (Oct. 5) court hearing, Spiro defended Shmurda as Judge James Burke postponed his trial until Feb. 22. He argued that Shurmda should be released pending the trail, but the judge denied the motion.

Dec. 17 marks the anniversary of when Shmurda and 14 other members of GS9 were arrested.
