Governors Ball Organizers Give Kanye West His Own Music Festival
Kanye West & The Weeknd To Headline Meadows Festival In NYC
If you’re Kanye West and your headlining performance gets rained out, what do festival organizers do? They have you headline another festival…duh.
Although his Governors Ball 2016 performance was canceled due to inclement weather, Kanye will return to New York to headline the inaugural The Meadows Music and Arts Festival in Queens. Meadows Fest is the newest music festival to hit the Big Apple.
The two-day festival, held October 1 and 2, will feature Kanye and The Weeknd as headliners, as well as performances by Chance The Rapper, Pusha T, Bryson Tiller, Grimes, Mac Miller, and many more.
In a statement, festival organizers explained why they decided to go with Kanye:
“The booking of Kanye West was born out of his weather-related cancelled appearance at Governors Ball 2016. Founders Entertainment saw a booking for West at the new The Meadows Music and Arts Festival as a way to follow through on bringing him to New York City for his only North American festival appearance in 2016.”
Unfortunately for music lovers, Meadows Fest is scheduled to go down the same weekend as The Roots’ inaugural New York City edition of the Roots Picnic.
Pre-sale tickets for Meadows Fest will go on sale June 23 at 11 a.m. EST on Ticketmaster.
