NBA No. 1 Draft Pick Ben Simmons’ Cousin Killed In Hit-And-Run
Just days after being drafted No. 1 in the 2016 NBA Draft, Ben Simmons got the heartbreaking news that his cousin was killed in a hit-and-run.
Zachary Simmons, 21, was struck by a black SUV around 3:30 a.m. on Sunday, June 26 in New Jersey. Zachary’s mother, Monique Steele, confirmed that Zachary is the cousin of the NBA’s No.1 draft pick.
“To be speeding enough to kill my child is beyond me,” Steele said, after police told her the SUV was going at least 70 miles per hour at the time of the accident, noted ABC.
The newly minted Philadelphia 76er, 19, took to Twitter to acknowledge his cousin’s death.
