Family Of Legendary College Basketball Coach Pat Summitt “Prepare For The Worst” As Health Declines
Legendary college basketball coach Pat Summitt is reportedly “struggling” as her health continues to deteriorate.
“I don’t think anybody knows whether she will last a day, a month, or a year,” a family member told the Knoxville News Sentinel.
The statement from Erin Freeman of Ackermann Public Relations read in part, “She is surrounded by those who mean the most to her and during this time, we ask for prayers for Pat and her family and friends, as well as your utmost respect and privacy. Thank you.”
Summitt is the winningest coach in NCAA History, but left her job as the head coach of women’s basketball at the University of Tennessee in March, just a few months after being diagnosed with early onset dementia.
The Knoxville News Sentinel reported Sunday morning that Summit, 64, is still in her retirement home, but her family is “preparing for the worst.”
The hashtag #PrayForPat has allowed celebrities and athletes to offer Summitt their support.
