This year’s Grammys were better than years past. mainly because of the moments that we just couldn’t get away from. Can someone tell me why Beyonce was throwing up gang signs? what about the Dream’s wardrobe? Peep six of the moments we found hilariously awkward.
Kelly Clarkson Acceptance
I wasn’t at the awards ceremony, but I swear a lot of those artists were all of the way underneath the influence. When Kelly Clarkson made her way to the stage to collect her award for Best Pop Vocal Album, she stopped to hug just about everybody in the front row. As she hugged country singer Miranda Lambert, a piece of Lambert’s dress caught on to Clarkson’s and the two stood there for a hot second. Once Kelly finally reached the mic, she told the world she needs to sing with Miguel because his performance was so sexy, despite not knowing who he was. (They are on the same label.) So much for remaining ladylike when Kelly Clarkson is around.
Beyonce Throws Gang Signs
It’s official. Jay-Z has rubbed off a little too much on his wife Beyonce. While Jay-Z raps like he’s a Colombian drug kingpin, Beyonce swears she’s a thug. When nominations were being announced for an award which King Bey was up for, she threw up a gang sign when she got her close up. She’ll just say she was shouting out her Beyhive, but we know she was giving high praise to the illuminati. We kid. We kid.
Jay-Z Disses The Dream
The Dream tried to play tough by jokingly telling Frank Ocean to back up and let him speak when they accepted their award for Best Rap Sung Collaboration for their work on Jay-Z and Kanye West‘s “No Church in the Wild.” After trying to get serious talking about how his Grammy speech was cut short when he won for writing Beyonce’s “Single Ladies,” Jay-Z capped off the speech with a quick shout out to the ridiculous hat The Dream was wearing by saying, “I’d like to thank the swap meet for his hat.” Basically, Jay just said, “Silence, peasant!”
Chris Brown Stays Seated For Frank Ocean
Well, this is awkward. Frank Ocean and Chris Brown got into a fist fight at a recording studio about a week and a half ago. While the two are still fighting in court, Ocean bested Brown in the Best Urban Contemporary Album. Every single person stood up to clap and congratulate Ocean for his first Grammy win. everyone except Chris Brown. Brown politely clapped, but remained in his seat. Oh, the shade was so real.
