Jay-Z Covers “Time” Magazine 100 Most Influential People
If his trips to Cuba, White House visits and aggressive corporate moves haven’t convinced you that Jay-Z is in a league of his own, here is another bullet point for his expansive list of achievements. Mr. Carter has been named one of “Time” magazine’s 100 most influential people and was interviewed by New York’s Mayor, billionaire Michael Bloomberg, for the mag.
“He’s never forgotten his roots — “Empire State of Mind” was a love song to our city,” The Mayor writes. “And as a co-owner of the NBA Nets, he helped bring a major league sports team back to Brooklyn, not far from his old neighborhood. In nearly everything he’s tried, he’s found success. (He even put a ring on Beyoncé.) And in doing so, he’s proved that the American Dream is alive and well.”
Jay-Z joins Lauryn Hill and Kanye West as hip-hop artists to cover “Time.” Other notables that made the “100” list include his wife Beyonce, LeBron James, President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama, Shonda Rhimes and Miguel.
