There are two schools of thought on album releases. One is to announce it way in advance and build up anticipation before it comes out, or do it Jay-Z’s way. In less than a month Hov will be releasing a new album, “Magna Carta Holy Grail” and Samsung Galaxy owners will have it three days before the general public.

In a commercial snuck in during game five of the NBA finals Mr. Carter is seen in the studio with hip-hop production heavyweights Timbaland, Swizz Beatz, Pharrell Williams and Rick Rubin discussing the project and when it will be available.
“We don’t have any rules, everyone is trying to figure it out,” Jay-Z says in the clip. “That’s why the Internet is the Wild West. We need to write the new rules.”
The new rules include just dropping an album when you want, how you want and to who you want.
According to The Wall Street Journal, Samsung purchased a million copies of the album at $5 a piece. Galaxy users will get the album through an app on the phone that they will receive later this month.
