Obama Offered Cameo Appearance on House of Cards
Netflix has been dominating awards season with original programming series like “Orange is the New Black” and “House of Cards”. While these exclusive web series already boast some pretty huge cast names (Kevin Spacey, Kate Mara) Netflix CEO Reed Hastings aimed for one major cameo appearance in particular – the president of the United States.
Deadline reports that while Hastings and other tech company CEOs visited with President Obama at the White House to discuss national security surveillance efforts and the plagued Obamacare website, the president was offered a guest role on the hit show ”House of Cards”.
According to the White House Pool Report, the president asked Hastings “I’m just wondering if you brought advance copies ofHouse of Cards?”. Season two is set to premier on February 14, 2014. President Obama also humorously remarked that “I wish things were that ruthlessly efficient” in real-world DC, referring to Spacey’s character’s (manipulative) ways of accomplishing things.
And yes, there is video. Watch President Obama share a laugh with Hastings, Melissa Mayer of Yahoo, and Apple’s Tim Cook (among others).
