All-Black Little League Team Stripped Of U.S. Title
Jackie Robinson West, the all-black little league baseball team that took home the win in the 2014 U.S. Little League World Series, was just forced to vacate their win, according to SportsCenter’s Twitter account.
The team used ineligible players, and now the title will be going to Mountain Ridge Little League from Las Vegas. According to ESPN, they used players who lived outside of the team’s zone. Jackie Robinson West beat the Taney Dragons for the championship, and they were the first all-black team to ever win the title. It was also their first time in 30 years that they even made the World Series.
The team was praised for their skills on the field as well as their sportsmanship off of the field. They were also honored by the President at the White House after their win.
