“The Simpsons” Predicted A Donald Trump Presidency 16 Years Ago
Did The Simpsons predict the future?
Sixteen years ago, an episode of the Fox cartoon mainstay predicted Donald Trump would become president. And he wasn’t portrayed in the best light.
“It was a warning to America. And that just seemed like the logical last stop before hitting bottom. It was pitched because it was consistent with the vision of America going insane,” writer Dan Greaney told The Hollywood Reporter.
In the episode, Bart is shown his future, and while his adulthood doesn’t look too promising, his sister Lisa becomes the first “straight female” president of the United States. That’s when the GOP presidential frontrunner comes into play. Lisa speaks on her predecessor, saying, “As you know, we’ve inherited quite a budget crunch from President Trump.”
You know there’s a problem when The Simpsons start predicting the future.
