Colin Kaepernick On Getting Death Threats For National Anthem Protest
Colin Kaepernick Says He Has Received Death Threats: “You’ve Proved My Point”
Colin Kaepernick is not backing down at any cost.
The NFL star has caused quite the controversy since deciding to protest the National Anthem at the start of football season. Kaepernick’s courage has gained him so many haters that some have even sent him death threats.
On Tuesday, the quarterback told reporters at the 49ers facility that he has received numerous death threats over “a couple different avenues.” He continued, “If something like that were to happen, you’ve proved my point and it will be loud and clear for everyone why it happened and that would move this movement forward at a greater speed than what it is even now.”
Sadly, Kaep is not surprised by all the hate he’s received, saying, “I don’t want that to happen, but that’s the realization of what could happen, and I knew there were other things that came along with this when I first stood up and spoke about it. That’s not something I haven’t thought about.”
But despite all the negativity thrown his way, Kaepernick says he did not report the threats to team officials or police.
