Crucial Conflict "Hay" [DAILY ONE HIT WONDER]
Crucial Conflict “Hay”
Chicago’s Crucial Conflict scored with their one and only hit single, “Hay” in the summer of 1996.
The song was a runaway smash, going gold and propelling the group’s debut album, The Final Tic, to gold status as well. Coldhard, Wildstyle, Kilo and Never took their ode to smoking marijuana in the middle of a barn to number 18 on Billboard’s Hot 100 singles chart, number 2 on Billboard’s Hot Rap singles chart, and number 8 on Billboard’s Hot R&B singles chart.
The group released two more albums after The Final Tic, none of which brought them the same success that they achieved with “Hay” and The Final Tic. Their second album, Good Side Bad Side, peaked at number 10 on the R&B album chart, but none of its singles charted.
The group split in 1999, but reunited in 2007 to record a new album, Planet Crucon, which was released in 2008.
