Jay-Z, Will Smith & More Attend Heavy D Funeral, Obama Sends Letter
There was no doubt how beloved Heavy D was at his funeral service today in Mount Vernon. Hundreds packed Grace Baptist Church, and people like Jay-Z, Diddy, Will Smith, Usher, Johnny Gill, Queen Latifah, Samuel L. Jackson, John Legend, Jada Pinkett Smith and more were in attendance.
President Barack Obama wasn’t able to make it, but sent a note read by Rev. Al Sharpton to express his condolences:
We extend our heartfelt condolences at this difficult time. He will be remembered for his infectious optimism and many contributions to American music. Please know that you and your family will be in our thoughts and prayers.
